In new street additions, Mertule Mariam fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Lào Cai built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Shiping built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Mertule Mariam fluctuated in connectivity, while Lào Cai became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards and Shiping grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Mertule Mariam and Lào Cai have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
