The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Massawa plotted against Semenawi Keyih Bahri and Eritrea. The SNDi of new construction in Massawa was at its lowest in 1991-2005, compared to Semenawi Keyih Bahri which was at its lowest in 1991-2005 and Eritrea which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Massawa's incremental SNDi rose from 2.18 to 3.82 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In new street additions, Massawa built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns, while Mansurchak built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Wuqing fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Massawa became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards, while Mansurchak became progressively more disconnected and Wuqing fluctuated in connectivity. Notably, Massawa had a more sprawly network than Mansurchak in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
