The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Al-Wasitah plotted against Bani Suwayf and Egypt. The SNDi of new construction in Al-Wasitah rose steadily, compared to Bani Suwayf which rose steadily and Egypt which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Al-Wasitah's incremental SNDi rose from 5.13 to 5.46 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Al-Wasitah ranked 9th out of 12 cities in Bani Suwayf and 157th out of 213 in Egypt as of 2020.

In new street additions, Al-Wasitah built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Yuhuan fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Dhupguri built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Al-Wasitah became progressively more disconnected, while Yuhuan fluctuated in connectivity and Dhupguri became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards. Al-Wasitah and Yuhuan have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
