The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Al-Zawamel plotted against Ash Sharqiyah and Egypt. The SNDi of new construction in Al-Zawamel peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Ash Sharqiyah which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Egypt which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Al-Zawamel's incremental SNDi fell from 4.23 to 3.86 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Al-Zawamel ranked 26th out of 28 cities in Ash Sharqiyah and 130th out of 213 in Egypt as of 2020.

While Guangning and Mendi both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, Al-Zawamel built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved in new street additions. Looking at the full network, Guangning and Mendi both became progressively more disconnected, while Al-Zawamel grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Al-Zawamel and Guangning have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
