The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Samalut plotted against Al Minya and Egypt. While Al Minya and Egypt both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Samalut's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Samalut's incremental SNDi rose from 4.69 to 5.05 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Samalut ranked 15th out of 24 cities in Al Minya and 152nd out of 213 in Egypt as of 2020.

In new street additions, Samalut and Mawlamyine both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Qoqand built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Samalut became progressively more disconnected, while Qoqand became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Mawlamyine fluctuated in connectivity. Samalut and Qoqand have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
