The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Mallawi plotted against Al Minya and Egypt. The SNDi of new construction in Mallawi was at its lowest in 1976-1990, compared to Al Minya which rose steadily and Egypt which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Mallawi's incremental SNDi rose from 3.52 to 3.55 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Mallawi ranked 2nd out of 24 cities in Al Minya and 72nd out of 213 in Egypt as of 2020.

While Raoping and Varna both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, Mallawi built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns in new street additions. Looking at the full network, Raoping and Varna both became progressively more disconnected, while Mallawi became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Mallawi and Varna have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
