Minyat al Hayt in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Minyat al Hayt plotted against Al Fayyum and Egypt. The SNDi of new construction in Minyat al Hayt peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Al Fayyum which peaked in 1976-1990 and Egypt which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Minyat al Hayt's incremental SNDi fell from 5.15 to 4.87 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Minyat al Hayt ranked 7th out of 13 cities in Al Fayyum and 135th out of 213 in Egypt as of 2020.

In new street additions, Minyat al Hayt built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Lahti built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Kopaganj built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Minyat al Hayt became progressively more disconnected, while Lahti became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Kopaganj grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Minyat al Hayt and Kopaganj have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
