The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Al-Shawashna plotted against Al Fayyum and Egypt. While Al Fayyum and Egypt both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Al-Shawashna's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Al-Shawashna's incremental SNDi rose from 3.5 to 4.94 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Al-Shawashna ranked 8th out of 13 cities in Al Fayyum and 144th out of 213 in Egypt as of 2020.

For the full network, Al-Shawashna and Guddu both fluctuated in connectivity, while Ashta became progressively more disconnected. Al-Shawashna and Ashta have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
