The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Itay el-Barud plotted against Al Buhayrah and Egypt. While Al Buhayrah and Egypt both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Itay el-Barud's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Itay el-Barud's incremental SNDi rose from 2.81 to 3.16 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Itay el-Barud ranked 7th out of 13 cities in Al Buhayrah and 80th out of 213 in Egypt as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Itay el-Barud and Parnamirim both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Pingyu fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Itay el-Barud fluctuated in connectivity, while Pingyu became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Parnamirim became progressively more disconnected. Itay el-Barud and Parnamirim have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
