The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Butembo plotted against Nord-Kivu and Democratic Republic of the Congo. The SNDi of new construction in Butembo rose steadily, compared to Nord-Kivu which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Democratic Republic of the Congo which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Butembo's incremental SNDi rose from 1.57 to 2.18 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Butembo ranked 1st out of 16 cities in Nord-Kivu and 13th out of 186 in Democratic Republic of the Congo as of 2020.

In new street additions, Butembo and Tepic both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Bijie fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Butembo and Tepic both became progressively more disconnected, while Bijie grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Butembo and Tepic have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
