The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Mashimba plotted against Kasaï-Central and Democratic Republic of the Congo. The SNDi of new construction in Mashimba was at its lowest in 1991-2005, compared to Kasaï-Central which rose steadily and Democratic Republic of the Congo which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Mashimba's incremental SNDi rose from 0.54 to 1.52 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Mashimba ranked 5th out of 6 cities in Kasaï-Central and 159th out of 186 in Democratic Republic of the Congo as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
While Simara and 诚心村 both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, Mashimba built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns in new street additions. For the full network, Mashimba became progressively more connected, while Simara fluctuated in connectivity and 诚心村 became progressively more disconnected. Mashimba and Simara have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
