The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Basankusu plotted against Équateur and Democratic Republic of the Congo. The SNDi of new construction in Basankusu rose steadily, compared to Équateur which rose steadily and Democratic Republic of the Congo which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Basankusu's incremental SNDi rose from 2.85 to 4.51 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Basankusu ranked 3rd out of 4 cities in Équateur and 51st out of 186 in Democratic Republic of the Congo as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
While Boditi and Longnan both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, Basankusu built increasingly disconnected streets over time in new street additions. Looking at the full network, Boditi and Longnan both grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Basankusu became progressively more disconnected. Notably, Basankusu had a more connected network than Boditi in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
