The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Wencheng plotted against Zhejiang and China. The SNDi of new construction in Wencheng followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Zhejiang which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Wencheng's incremental SNDi fell from 3.5 to 2.67 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Wencheng ranked 56th out of 116 cities in Zhejiang and 779th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Wencheng fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Tataouine fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Ostrów Wielkopolski built increasingly disconnected streets over time. Looking at the full network, Tataouine and Ostrów Wielkopolski both became progressively more disconnected, while Wencheng became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards.
