The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Quzhou plotted against Zhejiang and China. The SNDi of new construction in Quzhou peaked in 1976-1990, compared to Zhejiang which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Quzhou's incremental SNDi fell from 2.67 to 2.52 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Quzhou ranked 39th out of 116 cities in Zhejiang as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Quzhou built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Bordeaux built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Lodz built increasingly disconnected streets over time. Looking at the full network, Bordeaux and Lodz both became progressively more disconnected, while Quzhou grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Quzhou and Bordeaux have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
