The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Haiyou plotted against Zhejiang and China. The SNDi of new construction in Haiyou rose steadily, compared to Zhejiang which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Haiyou's incremental SNDi rose from 2.04 to 2.36 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Haiyou ranked 6th out of 116 cities in Zhejiang and 193rd out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Haiyou built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Botshabelo-K built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Businga fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Haiyou and Businga both became progressively more disconnected, while Botshabelo-K became progressively more connected. Haiyou and Botshabelo-K have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
