The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shizong plotted against Yunnan and China. The SNDi of new construction in Shizong peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Yunnan which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Shizong's incremental SNDi fell from 2.78 to 1.89 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shizong ranked 11th out of 78 cities in Yunnan and 379th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Shizong built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Akatsi built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Sig built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Shizong grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Akatsi became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Sig became progressively more disconnected. Notably, Shizong had a more connected network than Sig in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
