The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Ludian plotted against Yunnan and China. The SNDi of new construction in Ludian followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Yunnan which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Ludian's incremental SNDi fell from 4.85 to 3.54 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Ludian ranked 64th out of 78 cities in Yunnan and 1565th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Ludian fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Nayagarh fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Muhanga built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Ludian fluctuated in connectivity, while Nayagarh fluctuated in connectivity and Muhanga became progressively more disconnected. Notably, Ludian had a more sprawly network than Nayagarh in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
