All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Ya'an's incremental SNDi rose from 3.54 to 4.44 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Ya'an ranked 63rd out of 98 cities in Sichuan and 1319th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Ya'an fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Gaoyou fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Vigo built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Ya'an became progressively more disconnected, while Gaoyou fluctuated in connectivity and Vigo grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Notably, Ya'an had a more connected network than Gaoyou in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
