The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Tianzhen plotted against Shanxi and China. The SNDi of new construction in Tianzhen peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Shanxi which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Tianzhen's incremental SNDi fell from 5.14 to 3.25 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Tianzhen ranked 66th out of 80 cities in Shanxi and 1484th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Tianzhen and Shanhe both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Brusque built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Tianzhen and Shanhe both grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Brusque became progressively more disconnected. Tianzhen and Brusque have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
