All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Gujiao's incremental SNDi rose from 3.85 to 6.68 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Gujiao ranked 79th out of 80 cities in Shanxi and 1739th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Gujiao fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Ksar el-Kebir built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Rockford built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Looking at the full network, Ksar el-Kebir and Rockford both became progressively more disconnected, while Gujiao fluctuated in connectivity.
