The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Fenyang plotted against Shanxi and China. The SNDi of new construction in Fenyang peaked in 1976-1990, compared to Shanxi which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Fenyang's incremental SNDi fell from 3.42 to 2.09 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In new street additions, Fenyang built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Farooqabad fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Basmat built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Fenyang grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Farooqabad became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Basmat became progressively more disconnected. Fenyang and Basmat have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
