The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Zhuangzhai plotted against Shandong and China. While Shandong and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Zhuangzhai's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Zhuangzhai's incremental SNDi rose from 1.86 to 3.57 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Zhuangzhai ranked 55th out of 124 cities in Shandong and 356th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Zhuangzhai and Ünye both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Nyaung Shwe built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Looking at the full network, Nyaung Shwe and Ünye both became progressively more disconnected, while Zhuangzhai fluctuated in connectivity. Notably, Zhuangzhai had a more sprawly network than Nyaung Shwe in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
