The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Zhangqiu plotted against Shandong and China. While Shandong and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Zhangqiu's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Zhangqiu's incremental SNDi rose from 1.5 to 1.97 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Zhangqiu ranked 23rd out of 124 cities in Shandong and 122nd out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

While Nazirhat and Abakaliki both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, Zhangqiu fluctuated in its street-construction patterns in new street additions. Looking at the full network, Nazirhat and Abakaliki both became progressively more disconnected, while Zhangqiu fluctuated in connectivity. Zhangqiu and Abakaliki have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
