The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Xiajin plotted against Shandong and China. While Shandong and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Xiajin's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Xiajin's incremental SNDi rose from 1.67 to 2.21 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Xiajin ranked 32nd out of 124 cities in Shandong and 174th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Xiajin fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Huichon built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Shahdol built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Xiajin fluctuated in connectivity, while Huichon grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Shahdol became progressively more disconnected. Xiajin and Shahdol have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
