The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shiheng plotted against Shandong and China. While Shandong and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Shiheng's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease. Most recently, Shiheng's incremental SNDi rose from 6.99 to 8.2 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shiheng ranked 124th out of 124 cities in Shandong and 1841st out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

While Boulogne-sur-Mer and Tunchang County both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, Shiheng fluctuated in its street-construction patterns in new street additions. For the full network, Shiheng grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Boulogne-sur-Mer became progressively more disconnected and Tunchang County grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved.
