The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Rongcheng plotted against Shandong and China. While Shandong and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Rongcheng's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Rongcheng's incremental SNDi rose from 1.65 to 2.45 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Rongcheng ranked 49th out of 124 cities in Shandong as of 2020.

Rongcheng, Malda, and Zhangpu all fluctuated in its street-construction patterns in new street construction. Looking at the full network, Malda and Zhangpu both became progressively more disconnected, while Rongcheng fluctuated in connectivity. Rongcheng and Malda have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
