The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Rizhao plotted against Shandong and China. While Shandong and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Rizhao's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Rizhao's incremental SNDi rose from 1.66 to 1.83 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Rizhao ranked 20th out of 124 cities in Shandong and 110th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Rizhao and Zhaoqing both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Maradi built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Rizhao and Zhaoqing both fluctuated in connectivity, while Maradi became progressively more disconnected. Rizhao and Maradi have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
