The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Ningjin plotted against Shandong and China. The SNDi of new construction in Ningjin was at its lowest in 1991-2005, compared to Shandong which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Ningjin's incremental SNDi rose from 2.09 to 2.47 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Ningjin ranked 73rd out of 124 cities in Shandong as of 2020.

In new street additions, Ningjin built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns, while Bandar-e Torkaman built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Aamchit [Byblos] built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Ningjin became progressively more connected, while Bandar-e Torkaman became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Aamchit [Byblos] became progressively more disconnected. Ningjin and Bandar-e Torkaman have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
