The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Gaotang plotted against Shandong and China. While Shandong and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Gaotang's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Gaotang's incremental SNDi rose from 1.29 to 1.45 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Gaotang ranked 5th out of 124 cities in Shandong and 16th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Gaotang fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Itapetininga built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Lauria Nandangarh fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Gaotang and Itapetininga both became progressively more disconnected, while Lauria Nandangarh became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Gaotang and Itapetininga have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
