The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Tongchuan plotted against Shaanxi and China. While Shaanxi and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Tongchuan's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease. Most recently, Tongchuan's incremental SNDi rose from 1.91 to 2.39 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Tongchuan ranked 30th out of 62 cities in Shaanxi and 924th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Tongchuan and Sherkot both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Roxas built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Tongchuan and Sherkot both grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Roxas became progressively more disconnected. Tongchuan and Roxas have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
