The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shenmu plotted against Shaanxi and China. While Shaanxi and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Shenmu's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Shenmu's incremental SNDi rose from 2.13 to 4.01 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shenmu ranked 37th out of 62 cities in Shaanxi and 1014th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

For the full network, Shenmu and Lanling both fluctuated in connectivity, while Mollasani became progressively more disconnected. Shenmu and Mollasani have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
