The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shangguancun plotted against Qinghai and China. The SNDi of new construction in Shangguancun fell steadily, compared to Qinghai which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Shangguancun's incremental SNDi fell from 7.03 to 6.33 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shangguancun ranked 10th out of 10 cities in Qinghai and 1828th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Shangguancun built increasingly connected streets over time, while Allai fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Thakurganj built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Shangguancun became progressively more connected, while Allai became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Thakurganj grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Shangguancun and Allai have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
