The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Zhongwei plotted against Ningxia Hui and China. While Ningxia Hui and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Zhongwei's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Zhongwei's incremental SNDi rose from 1.76 to 2.12 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Zhongwei ranked 6th out of 15 cities in Ningxia Hui and 216th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

Zhongwei, El Tigre, and Mengyin all fluctuated in its street-construction patterns in new street construction. The same pattern holds for the full street network. Zhongwei and El Tigre have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
