The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Zalantun plotted against Nei Mongol and China. While Nei Mongol and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Zalantun's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Zalantun's incremental SNDi rose from 3.26 to 3.33 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Zalantun ranked 15th out of 43 cities in Nei Mongol and 870th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

While Renhuai and Gafsa both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, Zalantun fluctuated in its street-construction patterns in new street additions. For the full network, Zalantun fluctuated in connectivity, while Renhuai grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Gafsa grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Notably, Zalantun had a more connected network than Renhuai in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
