The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Ningcheng plotted against Nei Mongol and China. The SNDi of new construction in Ningcheng peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Nei Mongol which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Ningcheng's incremental SNDi fell from 3.18 to 3.02 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Ningcheng ranked 17th out of 43 cities in Nei Mongol and 886th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Ningcheng built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Longqiao built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Mechara built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Ningcheng became progressively more disconnected, while Longqiao grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Mechara became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Ningcheng and Longqiao have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
