The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shenyang plotted against Liaoning and China. The SNDi of new construction in Shenyang rose steadily, compared to Liaoning which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Shenyang's incremental SNDi rose from 2.9 to 2.91 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shenyang ranked 20th out of 61 cities in Liaoning and 505th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Shenyang and Santiago both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Khartoum fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Shenyang and Khartoum have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
