The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Heishan plotted against Liaoning and China. The SNDi of new construction in Heishan peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Liaoning which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Heishan's incremental SNDi fell from 3.57 to 2.79 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Heishan ranked 18th out of 61 cities in Liaoning and 466th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Heishan and Jetpur both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Yuanping built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Looking at the full network, Jetpur and Yuanping both grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Heishan became progressively more disconnected. Heishan and Jetpur have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
