The SNDi of new construction in Taonan peaked in 1976-1990, compared to Jilin which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Taonan's incremental SNDi fell from 2.42 to 1.42 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Taonan ranked 8th out of 47 cities in Jilin and 147th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Taonan built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Gokak fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Ramganj Mandi fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Taonan grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Gokak became progressively more connected and Ramganj Mandi fluctuated in connectivity. Taonan and Gokak have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
