While Jiangxi and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Nanchang's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Nanchang's incremental SNDi rose from 2.64 to 3.1 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Nanchang ranked 47th out of 82 cities in Jiangxi and 887th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Nanchang and Athens both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Berlin built increasingly disconnected streets over time. Looking at the full network, Berlin and Athens both became progressively more disconnected, while Nanchang fluctuated in connectivity. Nanchang and Berlin have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
