The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Huayuan plotted against Jiangxi and China. The SNDi of new construction in Huayuan fell steadily, compared to Jiangxi which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Huayuan's incremental SNDi fell from 4.56 to 4.09 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Huayuan ranked 78th out of 82 cities in Jiangxi as of 2020.

In new street additions, Huayuan built increasingly connected streets over time, while Karangwareng built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Nkongsamba fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. Looking at the full network, Karangwareng and Nkongsamba both became progressively more disconnected, while Huayuan became progressively more connected. Notably, Huayuan had a more sprawly network than Karangwareng in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
