The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Jiawang plotted against Jiangsu and China. The SNDi of new construction in Jiawang was at its lowest in 1991-2005, compared to Jiangsu which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Jiawang's incremental SNDi rose from 0.9 to 1.01 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Jiawang ranked 2nd out of 101 cities in Jiangsu and 8th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
While Piedecuesta and Whydah both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, Jiawang built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns in new street additions. Looking at the full network, Piedecuesta and Whydah both became progressively more disconnected, while Jiawang grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Jiawang and Piedecuesta have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
