While Jiangsu and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Datun's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Datun's incremental SNDi rose from 2.17 to 4.16 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Datun ranked 68th out of 101 cities in Jiangsu and 1154th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Datun and Ekeje both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Safur built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Looking at the full network, Ekeje and Safur both became progressively more disconnected, while Datun fluctuated in connectivity. Datun and Ekeje have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
