The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Yanxi plotted against Hunan and China. The SNDi of new construction in Yanxi followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Hunan which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Yanxi's incremental SNDi fell from 1.42 to 1.31 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Yanxi ranked 1st out of 89 cities in Hunan and 15th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Yanxi fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Tarime built increasingly disconnected streets over time and El-Shaikh Youssef fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Yanxi became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards, while Tarime became progressively more disconnected and El-Shaikh Youssef fluctuated in connectivity. Notably, Yanxi had a more sprawly network than Tarime in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
