The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Xintian plotted against Hunan and China. While Hunan and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Xintian's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease. Most recently, Xintian's incremental SNDi rose from 2.41 to 2.53 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Xintian ranked 31st out of 89 cities in Hunan and 643rd out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Xintian fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Bantwal Cross Road built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Souk El Arbaa fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Xintian grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Bantwal Cross Road became progressively more disconnected and Souk El Arbaa fluctuated in connectivity. Xintian and Bantwal Cross Road have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
