While Hunan and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Hengyang's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Hengyang's incremental SNDi rose from 3.64 to 4.25 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020.

In new street additions, Hengyang fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Dnipro built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Bayamón [San Juan] built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Looking at the full network, Dnipro and Bayamón [San Juan] both became progressively more disconnected, while Hengyang fluctuated in connectivity. Hengyang and Bayamón [San Juan] have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
