The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Hengshan plotted against Hunan and China. While Hunan and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Hengshan's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Hengshan's incremental SNDi rose from 1.82 to 4.41 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Hengshan ranked 23rd out of 89 cities in Hunan as of 2020.

In new street additions, Hengshan and Lodwar both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Guerrara built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Hengshan and Lodwar both fluctuated in connectivity, while Guerrara became progressively more connected. Notably, Hengshan had a more connected network than Guerrara in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
