The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Songzi plotted against Hubei and China. While Hubei and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Songzi's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Songzi's incremental SNDi rose from 1.08 to 2.43 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Songzi ranked 10th out of 77 cities in Hubei and 240th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Songzi and Dingbian both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Andimeshk built increasingly disconnected streets over time. Looking at the full network, Dingbian and Andimeshk both became progressively more disconnected, while Songzi fluctuated in connectivity. Songzi and Dingbian have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
