The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Xiangfu plotted against Henan and China. While Henan and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Xiangfu's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Xiangfu's incremental SNDi rose from 2.67 to 2.78 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Xiangfu ranked 81st out of 129 cities in Henan and 817th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Xiangfu fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Nawa fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Chernogorsk built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Xiangfu grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Nawa became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Chernogorsk became progressively more disconnected.
