The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shilong plotted against Henan and China. The SNDi of new construction in Shilong rose steadily, compared to Henan which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Shilong's incremental SNDi rose from 2.82 to 3.71 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shilong ranked 66th out of 129 cities in Henan and 631st out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Shilong built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Fryazino built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Baolun fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Shilong and Fryazino both became progressively more disconnected, while Baolun grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved.
