The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Babaishang plotted against Heilongjiang and China. The SNDi of new construction in Babaishang was at its lowest in 1991-2005, compared to Heilongjiang which peaked in 1976-1990 and China which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Babaishang's incremental SNDi rose from 0.59 to 7.65 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Babaishang ranked 23rd out of 67 cities in Heilongjiang and 313th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Babaishang built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns, while Ringim built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Eldorado fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. Looking at the full network, Ringim and Eldorado both became progressively more disconnected, while Babaishang became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards. Babaishang and Ringim have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
